Adjective - talkative
Origin: from the Latin loquax from loqui - 'to talk'
Even potatoes long for loquacity. Or perhaps they wish they were ducks.
An explanation doesn't come much simpler than the one above. Great word though. It's really fun to say. Try saying it in a really posh accent, it's even more amusing.
Its derivatives are also pretty good: loquaciousness, loquaciously and loquacity although the 'qua' does start to sound a bit duck-like if you keep saying it (or typing it for that matter). Not quite as quacky as the Latin origin: loquax, the lowest voice of the duck choir.
Thanks go to my most loquacious mother for reminding me of this word.
P.S. It took me four attempts to spell 'choir' correctly. I hate that word.
P.P.S. Ducks are great but their choirs are terrible.
